We’re all busy people. We live in a high-paced, fast-moving society and we basically live on the go. But when we can’t be in two places at once, how do we manage that overwhelming feeling? What are some ways we can reduce our stress levels without loading ourselves up on supplements, drugs, or trying to release that stress in negative ways; like smoking, drinking, or binge eating.
1. Try to keep your hormones in check. If your hormones are off the walls, your emotions are going to be too. If you’re feeling moody, don’t lash out, but do something relaxing to help stabilize your hormones.
2. In relation to number 1, EXERCISE. Exercise releases many hormones, endorphins, etc. You’ll feel refreshed, and it’s good for you.
3. Eat well-Like the domino effect, if you’re going to eat fast food every day, it’s going to slow down your metabolism, which in turns makes you feeling sluggish, and if you’re feeling sluggish with a big To-Do list, you’re probably not going to be a very happy person.
4. Just say NO-You probably enough stuff to do today, don’t overwhelm yourself with adding one more task. If you don’t have the time, you simply don’t have the time. People will understand, or so we hope anyways.
5. Your environment-if you’re overwhelmed, anxious, and stressed out, the last thing you need is loud, obnoxious behavior surrounding you. Even if you have a busy work day, put some classical music on, take a second, clear your head, and just breathe. Breathing exercises throughout your day (especially if you suffer from anxiety) will help you manage your stress levels.
